he Australian Death Notification Service (ADNS) is a free online tool that allows you to notify multiple organisations of a person’s death using one secure form.
Why Use the ADNS?
Managing a person’s affairs after death involves contacting numerous institutions. This service helps you notify banks, utility companies, super funds, and more in one step—saving time and stress.
How It Works
Enter details about the deceased
Provide your contact details as the notifier
Select the organisations you wish to notify
The service sends notifications directly to those institutions
Who Can Use It?
You don’t need to be the executor or next of kin to use the service, but you must have:
The deceased’s full name
Date of birth and death
Last known address
Is It Secure?
Yes. The ADNS is managed by the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages (BDM) in collaboration with other BDMs across Australia, and operates under strict privacy and security guidelines.
What Happens After You Submit?
The selected organisations will contact you directly if they need more information or documents, such as a death certificate or will.
